My PA-II has stopped reporting temperature and humidity data sometime in December, thought it is still reporting air quality. Is this a known issue? Would power-cycling it help?
Hi @Farpointer, we would recommend power cycling the device. This typically fixes the issue if the BME280 (temperature, pressure, and humidity sensor) is not detected. If that doesn’t correct it, we can help you get a replacement BME280 through email at contact@purpleair.com.
My sensor is on the map, but not reporting any data. Power and WiFi all ok. What can I do to fix this ?
Thanks Willem
My temperature sensor has stopped working, power cycling has no impact. I’ve emailed contact@purpleair.com as advised above but have had no reply after 3 weeks - it is still under warranty.
Hi @LBHPA1
We have sent replies to your email request. But it is very possible that you did not receive them. If that is the case, our apologies for the continued miscommunication. I just sent you another email. Please ensure it hasn’t gotten blocked by a spam filter or something on your network.
We want to help get this issue resolved for you.
I see there is a YouTube tutorial on replacing a BME unit for Flex and Zen, and it looks really easy. How about for the Classic? Is it also plug-and-play or is it bit more involved?
Hi @CJLippert
BME replacement for a Classic is much more involved and is something that we don’t recommend frequently. Although, we are working on getting a good video for Classic BME replacement on the YouTube channel. If you’re experiencing an issue with the BME in a Classic, please send an email in to contact@purpleair.com.
My set of sensors have no BME280 issues, but a sensor near my set is. I’m trying to determine if I should be a good neighbor and offer replacing their BME280 as that component is very low-cost (I was quoted $10).
I won’t influence you either way. Although it is the sort of community support that we would love to see. The best resource I could provide to you would be this video that goes over changing the BME in a Classic. Most of the steps are the same, although it is using an older version of the Classic that doesn’t contain the 3D printed parts.
