Separate indoor and outdoor lifespans for FLEX devices

Hi all.
There is a chance that this is a dumb question, but im wondering if the two separate sensors on board the FLEX device allow for individual lifespans based on where it is placed. What I would like to do is use it indoors for 2-3 years and then use it as an outdoor device for 2-3 years after that. Are both sensors constantly in use regardless of placement?

Yes, both sensors in the Flex are always in use, whether it is registered indoors or outdoors. That said, in our experience, general use doesn’t wear down the sensor a ton. More commonly, it is insects and other forms of debris that cause issues/failure.

I would suggest running the sensor as you want to, and if you run into issues, you can reach out to contact@purpleair.com for troubleshooting or replacement options.
