Hi Purple Air

I would love to purchase an air quality monitor and contribute to the real time map, however I would also like to reduce the amount of WIFI in and around my home. I was wondering if there is anyway to contribute (e.g. through ethernet cable ) or is WIFI the only option?

Hi @TimAir

Right now, the only option if you want to contribute data to the map is WiFi. We would like to develop a POE sensor, but have no timeline for it.

That being said, you can use sensors without WiFi, and collect data via an SD card for example, but that data won’t be on the map.

Hi there. Just checking in a few months later. I was wondering if there is any updates on development process for the purple air sensor option using ethernet rather then WIFI?

Hi Tim,

Thanks for checking back in. We don’t have any updates at the moment and haven’t developed a timeline. The POE sensor isn’t something that is going to happen soon.
