Why is my PA-I blinking a cycle of red at all AQI levels?

With wildfire smoke back, I have plugged in a PA-I indoor sensor I haven’t had plugged in in a while. It shows on the map just fine (Real-Time Air Quality Map | PurpleAir) and is showing AQI levels that should be in the green, like 30.

But after showing blue during the boot process, the unit seems to only show a cycle of red at different brightnesses-- about half a second at each level of red, stepping up and down through a series of brightness levels.

What does this mean? (I worry if I can trust the “green” data on the map if it’s showing red on the LED.)

Would buying a $25 replacement laser counter be likely to fix the issue?

Thanks!

I am also having this issue. Here is my PA-I sensor on the map. I’ve configured the LED to display Full Color AQI Only, but the LED just slowly blinks red no matter the air quality.

Hi @ereastman @GLM

Please send an email to contact@purpleair.com outlining the situation. Most likely, it sounds like the LED has failed. We can discuss troubleshooting and/or replacement.
