Saharan dust

Hi,
We have two PA II (classic) units deployed in a town in southern Europe in an area which is prone to relatively frequent Saharan dust incursions from North Africa.

Compared to a local official reference station we find that PM2.5 levels reported in dust episodes are typically significantly underestimated by the PurpleAir.

Based on some previous comments I believe this is not unexpected, due to the PMS5003 sensor underestimating the course particle numbers in dust, but I was wondering if anyone was aware of any studies on this or of any possible calibration methods to getter more accurate readings during dust events.

I am aware that these sensors are not accurate for PM10, so am focussing purely on the underestimated pm2.5 values.

Thanks
