I am a google home user and lately I have noticed that the AQI on my google home device is showing up extremely high. When I tap in, I can see that it’s a particularly sensor (Lowry Reading Garden) that is closest to me but is 100+ higher than any other sensor in the area. For example today it is showing 127 AQI and all of the other sensors in the area are in the single digits. How can I report this to the sensor owner or otherwise get it resolved? Thanks!
I guess my question is are you sure its inaccurate? Is it consistently high or does it fluctuate? My guess the sensor is good and probably near something driving that high reading. For example, my sensor will sit at 10-30, when I start a campfire about 100 yards away mine will spike to about 130 just getting hints of the smoke.
hope this helps.
It has been consistently high and off from all other community sensors for the last couple of weeks at least. That’s when I digest noticed it. Plus it’s in a residential area, so things like campfires would be highly unlikely. They do controlled burns that would affect the reading but other sensors in the area would also be affected.
Sounds good, it takes very little to decrease air quality locally (increase number) with these sensors.
Hi Nikki, and thanks for reaching out! We looked into the sensor and have downgraded the poorly-reading channel in our systems. We have an algorithm that attempts to identify sensors like this automatically, but it doesn’t always get it right.
Unfortunately, with the way Google currently retrieves our data, this sensor might still appear. If it hasn’t gone away in the next week, let us know, and we’ll take further steps to hide the sensor.
