5 GHz Sensor?

We switched to a Verizon Wi Fi router that only has a 5GHz channel so now our classic sensor (2.4 GHZ) does not appear on our network. We are in a rural location so the router works off of the cellar network. Is there any way we can have a sensor on our network or are we out of luck?

You’ll need to have a wifi router on the 2.4G frequency band in order for a sensor using those frequencies to communicate. Are you certain your router doesn’t have this band? It’s highly unlikely that any router would be without this, for exactly these sort of compatibility reasons. Do you know what the model of your new router is?

@Iucienve is likely correct, but Verizon can be vary quirky. (Guessing your Verizon box is both your modem & router.) Another answer would be to get a “range extender” Most range extenders I have seen operate on both 5 and 2.4GHz bands AND will switch between then as needed. So a range extender would connect to your Verizon router on 5GHz and your Purpleair on 2.4GHz.

Just another way to get a cat skin.

I wasn’t a fan of my ISP’s modem/routers, so I moved all to Ubiquiti gear. So far my PurpleAir is happy with it on 2.4.
