It appears that the realtime map stopped functioning sometime between 1230 central and 1430 central today, Thursday, June 12th.
Tried both wired internet and mobile and both just say “Modern…” center of screen and “Loading…” in the legend bar. Cleared caches, rebooted laptop and phone and still unable to view the map. Sometimes it says "get token failed, shows the world map, then returns to the blank screen after a countdown.
This may be the most compelling reason yet for a simple app or site that provides the data for a single known sensor ID (e.g, my sensor).
You’re not going mad, this was happening to me, too. It actually made me very happy to have the Pixel, which I have hooked up to a serial monitor, so I have at least one of them. But my main PurpleAir device was pretty offline.
Thank you for mentioning the troubleshooting steps you performed, and apologies for the interruption. The issues with the Map were caused by an issue from our service provider, which affected not only us but also other services we use. Data was still recording for your sensor, but just not displaying on the Map.
I don’t know if these match exactly what you’re envisioning, and these require a little technical know-how, but two ways available today to view your sensor’s data are:
Using an embeddable HTML/JS widget for your sensor. To get the HTML, you can go to the Map, click on your sensor, and hover your mouse over the small text saying “Get This Widget”.
The Map was unavailable due to an outage with our service provider, Google Cloud Platform. You can view their page detailing the incident or read one of the many news articles about it. Notably, this didn’t just affect us but other services we rely on as well. As for the site’s behavior during the outage, there are some things we’ve noted to improve in case something similar happens again.
Thanks for your response, but I didn’t have problems with the map unless I just HAPPENED to be lucky enough to miss the outage when it happened, or the outage didn’t affect me.
