In researching a particulate matter sensor to purchase I started heavily considering purpleair sensors. Doing a bit of research, I found the Karoline Barkjohn paper about the correction equation that can be applied to the sensor data to get a more accurate reading from the sensors. Reading through the paper though, I only see reference to the study being done on the Plantower PMS-5003 and the Bosch BME280 which is the hardware on the purpleair classic devices. The Flex and Zen use the PMS-6003 and BME688, but I haven’t seen anything around suggesting that a similar correction equation has been developed for this pair of hardware.
Has there been newer research that applies to the newer hardware that I just haven’t come across? Am I going to be getting more accurate data if I get the purpleair classic and use the correction equation for that hardware as opposed to the Zen/Flex with no correction equation since one hasn’t seemingly been developed yet?
