Running a PurpleAir sensor off a power bank (daily charging setup)

Hi all,

I’m based in Australia and looking to set up an outdoor PurpleAir sensor. I’ve got good WiFi where I want to place it, but no access to continuous power.

Rather than setting up a solar panel and battery system, I’m planning to keep it simple and run the sensor off a power bank, where I bring it inside each day to recharge it.

This is the power bank I already have:
Belkin BoostUp Charge 15W 20K USB-C Power Bank

A few questions:

  • Has anyone run a PurpleAir sensor like this with daily charging?

  • Do the sensors handle being powered off and on each day without issues?

  • Are some models easier than others for this kind of setup?

  • In particular, are any better suited for outdoor use if you need to bring them inside regularly to charge?

  • How long would a 20,000 mAh power bank realistically last?

  • Any tips to make the daily setup and pack-up easier?

Would be great to hear from anyone who has tried something similar.

Thanks!
