Purpleair vs iqair readings

Why are the readings for my purpleair device so different on purpleair map and IQ air map? both readings taken at same time.

I’m not sure if this will relate directly to your question but we had two phones reporting different values at the same location. That little gear in the top left corner that shows “US EPA” in your top photo can be clicked to open some options. One of the options is “Apply conversion”. There are 6 different conversion options and if one is selected the displayed value will change. In our case one phone was using the EPA conversion and the other phone was not.

@irongamer is correct. Using the US EPA conversion will make data match IQAir’s map more closely.

You’ll also want to use an averaging period of 1-hour. Using both of these settings won’t show the exact same data on both maps, but should get fairly close.

I think people talked about this issue last summer during the periods of heavy smoke in the Eastern states. Yes, if you apply an EPA conversion you may have a fairly accurate reading depending on what conversion you apply or don’t apply any at all.
