The PurpleAir map is difficult for me to decode, especially when on a Smartphone with a small screen because you are putting the real time sensor data scores in colors that belong to the level that is next highest; for example, right now, in my city and in my neighborhood, is 136, but you are color coding that number as “red,” when it should be “orange.” Further south, there is a score over 150, which does land in the “red” category, and it is in the same color as those scores below 150. There should be a clear distinction for those of us who make plans for our activities based on the health of the air. The “Sensitive” category should not appear similar to the “Unhealthy” category. By the same token, when viewing this map, you have “Acceptable” scores in orange which is meant for the “Sensitive Groups” category. Why are you not just coding the scores in the actual colors of air quality that they represent?? As it stands one has to really study the numbers, compare them with the tiny number coding box at the bottom to see if the numbers are actually “Acceptable” or “Sensitive Groups”
rather than just look at the color and go, “Ah-hah! It’s in the ‘Acceptable’ category right now; I can go out!”
