# Locally Controlling LED Brightness on PurpleAir Zen

I’ve been using the PurpleAir Zen air quality monitor, and I’m wondering if there’s a way to control the LED brightness locally. Specifically, I’d like to automate the brightness based on the time of day so it no longer lights up the entire side of my house at night with the color. Currently, adjusting the brightness involves re-registering the device via a form, which can be a bit cumbersome and seems like overkill.
Has anyone been able to figure out how to send a command locally to do this.

Hi @bbech
I don’t believe there is currently a way to control a device’s brightness with some sort of local command. However, the Zen and Touch models have [double-tap to change brightness capabilities.](https://community.purpleair.com/t/double-tap-to-change-led-brightness/4693)
