# Local Connection

Is it possible to connect to the sensor directly? Instead of needing to connect to the API.

The sensor is connected to the internet and sends data to Purple Air, can I also get access to this data instead of needing to get it from Purple Air?

Hi @Oliver_Speir, you can query the data from your sensor locally on your own network. Details for this can be found in our [View local Sensor Output over WiFi](https://community.purpleair.com/t/view-local-sensor-output-over-wifi/5513) article.

Some PurpleAir devices also have an SD card reader. These devices will write the data they collect to the SD card as long as there’s space remaining.
